Francincense Melchior Parsons

(Yes, he knows his name is spelled wrong.)

Nickname: Franc (don’t you dare call him Francincense)

Birthday: January 26, 1989

From: Small town in Texas (that he couldn’t wait to get out of)

Personality: Franc is a very private person. He’s had a hard life but he doesn’t really want anyone to know because he can’t stand to be pitied. He comes across as cold and standoffish to strangers and he is. However, he’s got an unassuming sense of humor and a love for pranking his best friend, Rocco. When it comes to those he loves, Franc will defend them to the last. He can actually be quite loving and adorable around people he likes.

(Not that he’d ever admit it …)

Likes: Classical Piano, Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Obscure Pianists that no one has ever heard of …

Dislikes: Halloween, the Beatles, Driving

Romantic Interest: Georgiana “Georgie” Beatrice McGeorge

Bio: Franc is the only son of a Southern Baptist preacher and a kindergarten teacher. His older sister, Goldie, was perfect; cheerleading captain, homecoming and prom queen, not to mention in the top ten of her class. Franc was ten times smarter than his sister but never as popular and he spent most of his young life trying to live up to her. Then his mom died from leukemia when he was thirteen and Franc just gave up. He just stopped caring. He started drinking and doing drugs with his childhood best friend, Tommy. His father grieved the loss of his wife by taking out all his aggression on Franc and that relationship quickly disintegrated. Franc continued in this downward spiral for years.

And then his life was struck by another tragedy. Tommy died in a drunk driving accident. Most people in his situation would have fallen deeper in alcoholism and drug addiction with something like that. Franc sobered up immediately and to this day has not touched drugs or even a drop of liqueur.

The day after he graduated high school he hitchhiked to Houston and then took a bus to New York. For the first week or so he lived in a homeless shelter, hugging his electric keyboard for dear life each night terrified it would be stolen. Then he walked into Sable Records, ranted out his musical knowledge and was told “We have enough strays here, one more won’t hurt.” There he met his boss, Rocco, and the strangest but best of friendships was born.

He attended NYU that fall and managed to double major in history and music. He is currently working on his doctorate and his thesis centers on the historical impact of several composers such as Beethoven and Bach.

Occupation: Franc works at Sable Records to get through college and grad school. He mostly works the cash register, because let’s face it: Franc is not a people person. After receiving his doctorate, Franc becomes a high school history teacher. During the summer, he teaches a class or two at the local community college. He also writes his fair share of articles for Music and History journals and magazines. Franc knows that with his degrees he could have a better job, but he is perfectly content where he’s at in life.
